My new favorite place to go to in Baku for an evening tea-time or an afternoon snack in Dalloyau. The legendary red design with golden writing attracts the attention of any food-appricator. Dalloyau has existed for more than 300 years, surviving the French revolution as well as Marie Antoinette’s reign. Do try the Opera cake when you visit and the chocolate macaroons-who’s recipe is stored in secret for more than decade. Located in the central Boulevard of Baku, at the Neftchiler Avenue, Dalloyau is the cutest and most elegant spot!
To promote the first European Games to be held in Baku next year, the Days of Azerbaijan festival was launched with fireworks in the French city of Cannes on July 8. Mehriban Aliyeva, Azerbaijan’s first lady looked absolutely stunning wearing a crepe skirt in gray color and a white, strapless top, complementing it with no other jewelry than a symmetrical amount of golden bracelets on either wrist.
I just wanted to share these beautiful images of the real Baku’s old city in its flesh! Take a look dear followers and visitors, especially those who have not had a chance to visit it yet!
Baku is a city of novelties, to be more exact-it has everything in two versions! However when it comes to tea-rooms and cake-houses, it is often a quest for the right venue and the best quality, which isn’t always easy to find.
Le Plaisir opened its doors to those who appreciate and look for a cozy ambiance in the style of ‘provence’, subtle jazzy music, and absolutely mouth-watering desserts like The Napoleon, brought back from our childhood! Le Plaisir has a very cute and stylish decor with flower pots on its cabinets, and vintage china serving its teas and coffees.
You need to see this to believe this, but the staff is so friendly, almost as though serving and describing each layer of each cake, for the customers, is their passion. All the desserts are home-made and serve their purpose for exactly 24 hours. Le Plaisir also takes orders for custom-made cakes and other pastries so you know where to go if you need a tasty, beautiful cake for a party!
What makes Baku special as a city is its combination of new and old. Sky scrapers stand amongst soviet-built miniature constructions, and restaurants make an infusion of azerbaijani food with foreign accents. Le Plaisir is a proof to the above said, combining our cravings from before with a new and modern approach!
